Other than the obvious reason, which is learning how to take care of and get the most out of your voice as an instrument, why should you, as a singer, consider vocal training?

One reason that has become apparent to me is the need for feedback. Sometimes we as singers make choices we are not sure about. In these times, it’s good to have external ears to bounce these things off of to see if it’s a good choice or not so good.

Another reason that is very important to me as a teacher and mentor is getting plenty of opportunities to perform. I like to host regular recitals and find other opportunities to get my students out there. Performances are where we really find out what we are capable of and what we need to work on. Additionally, in working towards these performances, we find purpose in our practice time.
